Mini Ghosts Chocolate Bark with Candy Corn

mini ghosts chocolate barkScare up some mini ghosts chocolate bark for the Halloween season.

These frightful little mini ghosts chocolate bark are sure to scare up some excitement. Especially when you have your family involved in making them. Working with melted chocolate can be a bit messy, but so much fun when your children are in the kitchen helping. Make it a team effort. Just melt some semi-sweet chocolate in your microwave. Scoop it out and spread it out into little ghost shapes. Then stand back and let your kids decorate. This is the fun part. Just add your favorite toppings and let them create their own masterpieces.

I kept my mini ghosts chocolate bark simple today with candy corn.  Make yours unique with your favorite candy, but don’t forget the eyeballs.

Enjoy!

Here is how I did it!

Grab 2 half sheet pans and line with tinfoil or parchment paper.  Measure out your mini candy corn and place the candy eyeballs in a small bowl.  Your toppings need to be ready once you place the chocolate.  Set aside.

Grab a medium glass bowl and add your package of semi-sweet chocolate chips.  It’s important to use only dry bowls and utensils when melting chocolate since water will cause your chocolate to seize.  In other words, it will get lumpy and thick and totally unusable.

Microwave your chocolate chips at power level 7 for 40 seconds, remove and stir chocolate chips.  Repeat for a second time.  Your chocolate chips should begin melting.

Microwave your chocolate chips at power level 7 for 25 seconds, remove and stir chocolate chips.  Repeat this step until all of your chocolate chips are melted.  I just needed to do this step twice.  So don’t try to overdo this process or you will burn your chocolate.  It’s amazing how stirring the chocolate between microwaving actually speeds the melting process; it melts more evenly too.  The entire melting process takes only 2-3 minutes of microwaving.

Grab a metal tablespoon and scoop some of your chocolate onto your half sheet pan.  Use your tablespoon to shape and spread it out into a rough ghost shape that’s about 1/4″ thickness.

Start placing your candy corn and eyeballs onto your chocolate.  Have some fun, this is the easy part.  Once you’re finished, with clean hands, lightly press the toppings down to push them into your chocolate.  This helps so less toppings falls off later.

Set your mini ghosts chocolate bark aside at room temperature for at least 3-4 hours for the chocolate to harden.  It needs to be in a cool spot or you may need to place it in your refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Store your mini ghosts chocolate bark in a sealed container at room temperature for 1 week.
